The roads were hardly paved, ladened with potholes and missing chunks of earth. For two hours we passed through tiny villages in the absolute pitch black of night slowly with our high beams on, stopping to let animals cross the path
As we continued up this winding mountain road there were many times it seemed like we were going to get stuck but somehow we arrived at the foot of the mountain
From there, we had a 15 minute (nearly vertical) ride in the back of a open cab pickup truck to the top of the mountain. Those of us in the back were clutching on the makeshift bars as best we could to keep from falling off, and at times it felt like this
Mostly it was locals, men and women, children, babies. A woman cradled her newborn against her chest to keep the thick cloud of dust kicking up from our truck out of its face.
It was almost 6 am and beyond the dust and fog the first light was promising us a glimpse of the massive land formations just beyond our sight. By the time I set up my tripod everyone on the mountain top was witnessing one of the most beautiful displays of color I’ve ever seen in a sunrise. It was like the sky was on fire burning with passion and excitement, much like my soul
It’s the hardest I’ve worked in any given day to take a photo this entire trip but in the end, I am grateful for the journey because the resulting moment was magical ✨
An outstanding share! I have just forwarded this onto a coworker who had
been doing a little research on this. And he in fact bought me dinner due to the fact
that I discovered it for him… lol. So allow me to
reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending some time to talk
about this issue here on your web page.
